Our client (a retired designer/manager) approached JCA in January 2017 to discuss proposals for a contemporary kitchen-dining extension to a recently purchased 4 bedroom terraced house just off Ecclesall Road and adjacent to the Sheffield Botanical Gardens.
JCA explored a number of options and design ideas, working closely with the client and planning officer at pre-application stage in order to reach an optimum solution for the layout, scale and external appearance.
The final split level plan creates an exciting and dynamic internal environment and responds to the site topography. The dual pitch roof allows daylight and views both south and north towards the botanical gardens. The brick cladding creates a clean, contextual aesthetic for the extension, with some careful projecting brickwork detailing to create subtle depth and shadow across the elevations.
